Our mathematics curriculum is carefully designed to equip pupils with the essential knowledge and skills they need for future learning and adult life. It provides a strong foundation that enables every child to grow in confidence, develop a positive attitude towards learning, and be well prepared for the next stage of their education.

Learning is structured through a clear and progressive sequence, beginning with the development of fluency and moving on to reasoning and problem-solving. High-quality teacher modelling plays a central role in introducing new concepts, while opportunities for pupils to explore, investigate, and apply their understanding are integral to our approach.

The curriculum is thoughtfully adapted to ensure that pupils with SEND can successfully access core knowledge and skills. Through a focus on fluency, reasoning, and problem-solving, we support all learners in building confidence, resilience, and independence in mathematics.

As part of our daily routine, pupils spend five minutes revisiting and recalling prior learning to strengthen retention and deepen understanding. We also place a strong emphasis on the rehearsal of times tables. To support this in an engaging way, we use the interactive platform TT Rockstars, which motivates pupils to improve both their speed and accuracy in recall.
